The

- Day of Days
I
made this page out of a collection of quotes from the Runrig message
board. If you see a quote here that is yours and you want it removed
feel free to say, (I understand I didn't really get anyones permission
before I put them all up) Anyway this is for us (the fans) to
show our appreciation and to air our views on the Day of Days
DVD and CD... - Crunchie
I
just received Day of Days today . . . I'm in the US . . . and
it is great. I also love the acoustic tracks. - Curt13925
I
had to resist listening to the CD a third time last night so as
not to get used to it. It is highly addictive, and Malcolm seems
to be almost freestyling his way through the songs a lot more
felxibly than before, which lends a great atmosphere to it all,
and the wailing guitar at the beginning of TSG and also the opening
for Hearthammer....simply brilliant. - Adam
I
already listened a few times to the CD (while working indeed)
and I must say that I also like the acoustic sessions very much.
- Ireen from Flanders
Finally
got the Day of Days CD and DVD! Now I aint seen the DVD yet but
I'm listening to the CD as we speak. From the intro onwards I
have been completely blown away, this is a masterpiece. If anyone
was in Oxford today and you witnessed a mad teenager walking down
the street with a big grin on her face singing Hearts of Olden
Glory at the top of her voice then I'm sorry for scaring you.
Will write a more detailed review later but all I can say is wow....
this I reckon is the best live CD Runrig have produced. - Crunchie
Haven't
seen the DVD in any length yet but the CD is indeed utterly brilliant.
I get the same feeling at the end of that that I did at the gig
itself- the sort of "noooooo it can't be over already!"
feeling. You know the one. - Adam
Bought
the CD in Skye last week and when we got home last night we watched
the full DVD!!! I love it, people are moaning about bits being
left out, but those bits are now unique in the memory of those
who were there and I like that. Its an excellent show and by far
the best recording of a concert since the barrowlands 1989. I
can let my mates see this and give them a great example of Runrig
- LIVE which I never felt I could do with any of the other videos.
Glad to see Donnie on it too, its nice that part is on it! What
else can I say, its just amazing! - Gary Cleghorn
Watching
the Stamping Ground bit on the DVD now, and I love the slow bits
when u see the Stags/deers roaming across the Scottish Landscape.
Very Atmospheric. - Celtman
Not
having been lucky enough to attend the actual concert, to say
I was excited putting the DVD on is an understatement, and believe
me I wasn't disappointed. From the very different opening of Going
Home/Hearthammer to the very moving Book Of Golden Stories at
the end, it was sheer delight. Highlights for me personally were
the gorgeous version of Hearts Of Olden Glory, which brought a
lump to my throat, Proterra with Duncan Chisholm and backdrop,
Running To The Light, the opening bars always give me a shiver
and, of course Faileas Air An Airigh. It will not be long before
I watch it again. Their best live video yet! - Gary
The
DVD is fantastic from beginning to end - stunning. - TanithRose
Hi
all, Just been watching the DVD from Day of Days. BRILLIANT!!!.And
now I`m going to watch it again, and probably again tomorrow,
and the next day, and the next day.... - Highlander123
Watching
the DVD for the umpteenth time now and each time I see something
new and which makes the memories of that fantastic day in Stirling
come flooding back. My heart is thumping so loudly, I find myself
mentally apologising to Iain for competing with his drumming,
as if anyone could! There is so much joy in that DVD, just look
at the boys faces, and those of the fans who are all having the
time of their lives. Each time a song is played, thats my favourite!
Then the next one is played and..... yes, you guessed it that
one becomes my favourite. How can you choose between them, the
performance by the boys was simply outstanding. This is truly
a superb DVD, and those fans who were unable to get to the anniversary
do in Stirling, well you havent missed out... here it is in all
its glory.. it doesnt matter that the whole gig isnt on there...
this is how it was, the excitement, the boys, the music, the fans,
the love of Runrig. Well done Rory, Calum, Iain, Brian, Malcolm
and Bruce for giving us such great memories and such an electrical
performance, its one I am never going to forget. Also to all those
who helped make the DVD what it is, you have done an amazing job
here and brought great pleasure to many people, thank you. - Rosey
The
DVD is good but why cut so much out ? To my mind it just does
not do justice to that fantastic evening in Sterling Castle. I
would happily pay a few coppers more to capture the boys complete
performance. Any chance of an uncut version? - Andy Cracknell
'An
Sabhal Aig Neill' what a fantastic track, especially when it is
played live. It was such a visually impressive track. I am not
getting my copy of the DVD until Monday but if what I have read
is true I am already VERY disappointed it is not included on the
DVD. - taffywebber
Found
all the extras, and bonus footage really interesting. The songs
have been heard before but most of the extras have never been
seen up until now, therefore I think its a nice balance of editing
to allow us new stuff too. I love "Going Home", I think
its a lovely song, and Bruce's voice sounds amazing. Another fave
off the DVD is "Hearthammer" - another brilliant song
performed fantastically. - Rosie
One
of my favourite parts is when you see Bruce stooping at the front
of the stage during the audience participation in Maymorning.
As he is looking around and nodding, he embodies the relationship
between the crowd and the band at all the gigs I've been to, which
is that we are all there joining in together, enjoying the music,
the atmosphere and, in a way, to me, the whole family sing song
feeling. I never feel that I am going to watch a gig. I always
feel that I am going to take part!! I think it shows how much
Bruce puts into it and what he gets out of it. Calum must feel
vindicated because we really get to see how hard he works all
the way through. Every shot, he is banging and shaking something
different, singing away and enjoying every minute. And Iain really
does look like the "hardest working drummer"! Brian
looks like he has always been there. I think Malcolm moves around
a lot more than he used to and looks a bit more relaxed. I like
that! I always get the feeling that Rory is the Daddy, quietly
keping an eye on the procedings and looking proud! This always
happens.. when I write praise about one member, I have to include
something about all the others too. Lastly the saddest bit - "Go
on. Take us home, big man" - because it meant that was the
end....... - Julie Stanton
Have
just watched all of it, including the additional features. This
is one of the benefits of being recently retired! Feeling quite
emotional! I played it on 5.1 surround sound (very loud - sorry
passers by) on a widescreen TV. Wow! The sound is brilliant and
the editing perfect. Well worth waiting for. It brought back great
memories of Stirling last August but also showed us aspects of
the night that we missed at the time. All the lads are superb.
Malcolm plays like a god! The additional features are all interesting.
If I am being really picky, I would have liked more of the celebrations
afterwards and some more vintage footage of the last thirty years.
- Ron
Its
the dogs parts its BRILLLLLL, I was at Stirling all I saw was
backs of heads now I can see what I heard - chris5664
Just
finished watching the dvd what can I say it was brill, captured
the mood well, wish I could have been there. Roll on the next

I
have mine to say and have to say its a fantastic dvd really brought
the night back and yes it was as good as I remembered it. As someone
else has said the images of Scotland and all the other images
has really worked well. It is a fantastic dvd of a fantastic band
on a fantastic night......well done the production people as well....best
money spent in ages. - Tiz
Wow,
what an amazing DVD. Just finished watching, it really brought
back fantastic, price-less memories of one of the best nights
ever! Well done to Runrig for the fantastic music, and the Fan
Club for sending it out on time. All the band are brilliant, and
Bruce's voice is truly amazing! - Rosie
Just
watched dvd.......wow.......I cried again. Can't wait for the
next tour. And all three of my daughters want to come this time!
- Earendil
It
is Amazing, loved every little bit of it. Well done to all involved.
Loved the extra bits too. Especially Phil's magic tricks and Bruce's
struggle with his problem. Stay off the tablets on the next tour
Bruce.lol (he's not going to live this one down) - Carolyn
Ok,
here goes after THREE bottles of wine whilst watching DAY OF DAYS.
I played it loud and proud on DTS.The neighbours have called the
old bill but I dont care. This is a truly wonderful momento of
a great night. I accept the need for ommissions to get the gig
onto DVD. The editing/sound engineering is spot on and it was
so nice to see the band enjoying themselves like always. i was
lucky enough to be about 3 rows back from centre on the night,
but this DVD gave me the chance to experience the night from another
perspective. Highlights for me: Big Sky - an epic song delivered
magnificently. Skye- great interaction between Iain and Bruce,
the drum sound is phenomenal. Hearts of Olden Glory- still makes
me cry even now. Lovely moment of video editing when the camera
shot changes to a "behind the crowd" angle and we see
the band "through" two flags crossing, the cross of
St Andrew and the Canadian Maple Leaf. Fantastic. Book of Golden
Stories- Just a great finale. In short, worth the wait and further
evidence this band are strong again and will go on as long as
THEY wish to. As someone well known on the DVD once said: "
The important thing is, the music goes on,the songs go on,Runrig
goes on, and we WILL be there for them" Thanks to the band,
fanclub and all involved in the production of this wonderful DVD.
