Even
with Dundee Utd reduced to ten men Falkirk
fail to pick up any points at Tannadice.
Some
notable changes were made to the starting
line up after the awful performace against
ST Mirren the previous week. Dean Holden,
Gerard Afjes and Graham Barrett all started
the game and indeed Falkirk looked hungry
in the first half hour with Barrett and Latapy
going close.
Next came one of those odd moments where you
just knew this wasnt going to be our
day. A corner was whipped into the Dundee
Utd box and Darren Dods smashed an attempted
clearance off of his own crossbar.
Falkirk were starting to let Dundee Utd into
the game and Barry Robson fired a warning
straight into the arms of Krul in the 20th
minute. Darren Barr then had a back post header
crash off the bar when it looked easier to
score.
Falkirks best chance of the half came
when Moutinho squared a ball across the face
of goal only for Higdon to get it caught between
his feet leaving Thompson shouting his frustration
when he arrived unmarked behind the big man.
HT
: Dundee Utd 0 - 0 Falkirk
At
58 minutes on the clock Dundee Utd went ahead
with a low shot from Noel C Ccccc
OK
then Hunt, which beat Krul after a defence
cutting pass down the right.
Russell Latapy had a shot well saved from
the Utd keeper after being put through by
Moutinho but by this stage most of us had
accepted that we would not take anything from
the game.
Then possibly the most bizarre incident of
the game occurred when Cregg was chopped down
from behind by Robson but the result was Noel
Hunt lying on the deck feigning injury much
to the annoyance of the Falkirk support.
The referee then handed Falkirk a lifeline
as he sent off Gomes for a blatant tug of
Russell Latapy however this didnt seem
to phase Utd in the slightest as Barry Robson
stepped up to send a free kick around the
Falkirk wall and into Kruls goal. It
was just never going to be our day.
