This
game between Falkirk and Hibs continued the
poor tradition of at least one red card being
flashed though in this game Falkirk finished
the game with 9 men while Hibs finished with
10.
The
first few minutes of the game saw Darren Barr
slide in to a challenge on Hibernian's Donaldson
in which he took the players legs but caught
nothing of the ball. Barr's reaction said
everything and he didn't protest when Willie
Collum pointed to the spot. Donaldson sent
Krul the wrong way to put his team 1-0 up
from the spot so not the best start to the
game ever.
Willie
Collum had his card out again before Falkirk
kicked off from the centre circle as he booked
Donaldson for over-celebrating.
Falkirk
looked increasingly jittery at the back though
Graeme Barrett just missed out on a cutback
from Moutinho though should have scored ten
minutes later when he found himself with only
the keeper to beat. Ma-Kalamby managed to
deflect the shot and Falkirk were dealt another
blow when Jack Ross hobbled off to be replaced
by Gerard Aafjes.
Darren
Barr was then booked for tripping Antoine-Curier
but then Donaldson was shown a second yellow
for an outrageously late tackle on Steven
Thomson which thankfully didn't result in
an injury.
HT:
Falkirk 0- 1 Hibernian
It
looked as though the sending off of Donaldson
fired Falkirk up for the second half as Pedro
Moutinho fired in a shot which was deflected
back to the striker. He reacted quickly and
took the goal well leaving the Hibs keeper
no chance.
Falkirk
fans celebrations were short lived as Latapy
and Riera got their wires cross ed and allowed
O'Brian to race clear. Steven Thomson was
hot on his heels however and somehow managed
to clear the ball over the by-line.
Next
came the second red card of the day as Barr
went into a challenge with O'Brian right on
the touch line. Although the ball hit the
Hibs man before going out Collum awarded a
throw in to the visitors. Barr was outraged
at this decision and promptly slammed the
ball on the ground leading to Collum flashing
a second yellow and dismissing the Falkirk
defender.
The
referee was at the centre of the next controversial
incident as Cregg fouled Gatheussi and then
appeared to say something to the Hibs man
who shot got over his injury quick enough
to shoot up from the deck and shove Cregg
over. The whistler flashed his yellow card
to both players but Cregg was to pay the full
price shortly after.
Cregg
again chased Gatheussi up the touchline and
dived into a challenge in which he took the
ball out for a throw in. Unfortunately he
also took the Hibs man down once again and
Cregg was given a 1 minute head start to the
showers.
Could
have been a good game but was spoiled by silly
bookings.
