FALKIRK 0 - 1 ST.MIRREN

St.Mirren take the points in what was an almost carbon copy of the dire performance of boxing day last year.

Despite the score line Falkirk started brightly enough and Scott Arfield replaced the injured Riera in midfield. Moutinho had a shot deflected round the post in the 4th minute and from the resulting corner St.Mirren broke upfield. Thankfully the effort came to nothing with Darren Barr able to clear.

Neither side looked like scoring in the first half hour and the game looked destined to be a copy of last Decembers snooze-fest. Indeed the only incident of note was when Krul blasted a clearance off Mehmet which everyone then seemed to leave to each other, Darren Barr to the rescue again.

Barr was the hero again with a perfectly timed tackle at the feet of Mehmet to deny the striker a shot at goal.

HT: Falkirk 0 - 0 St.Mirren

Again Falkirk started the brightly and again Moutinho went close with a couple of efforts early in the half. However it was St.Mirren that came closest to scoring when Corcoran attempted to place a shot in the top corner of the net when a drilled effort along the deck would probably have been more effective.

Darren Barr was then booked when he tugged at a St.Mirren defenders jersey after sending a strong header straight to the keeper.

Referee Craig McKay enraged both sets of fans with some baffling decisions later on in the game. St.Mirren fans were screaming for Darren Barr to be given his marching orders after a clumsy tackle on Corcoran.

Everyone and their dog could see a goal coming for St.Mirren and in the 89th minute it came. A free kick resulted in a bit of pinball in the box and it fell to Billy Mehmet who slotted the ball past Krul.

This match report has taken me nearly an hour and a half to write so uninspiring was the game itself.
